Camp Clarity – Module 5 Lesson 1: Time to Re-assess Your Vision

What does your future hold?
Listen, you’ve done a lot of work clearing the path to your best life.
Now, we need to capitalize on all that work. Many people will give up at this point. And that’s really sad.
The progression of difficulty is like this:
Hard – Digging into your character (without judgement). We did that with the Core Values and Guiding Principles.
Harder – Thoroughly assessing your life right now. Many folks beat themselves up pretty badly here for not being further along. That’s a waste of time and energy. Don’t do it.
Even Harder – Imagining what your best life looks like in the near future. The reason this can be difficult for some, maybe not you, is that they have a hard time dreaming. That’s really a worthiness issue. “Being rich is for other people, not me.” “I can’t get fit because people in my family are all fat.” “I’d love to have a wonderful spouse, but who’s going to love me?”
If you catch yourself thinking this way, watch this video – it’s one of my favorites.
Listen, it’s just a funny video. I know we all come from an environment (parents, family, culture, etc.) that shapes who we are today. And it rears it’s ugly head all the time. But I have a saying that I coined that has become very important to me:
“My first thought is not mine. I inherited that one. But the second thought is all mine. I get to choose it.”
If I choose to believe stuff I know is not true, that’s on me.
Hardest – Actually doing something about it. But I’m getting ahead of myself with this. That’s in the next module.
Now’s the time to let all your inhibitions slip away and dream really big.
Pull up your previous Vision and decide what is still valid and what needs to be re-evaluated. What do you need to dump?
Dream a little bigger. Remember the “And then what?” trick.
When you see your Vision accomplished, say to yourself, “And then what?” Go as far as you can.
The difference this time is weigh your revised Vision against your Guiding Principles to help you stay focused on your true destination.
Now, picture it. Make notes. Re-write or re-vise your Vision in all 5 areas areas.
When you picture it in your mind, hold that. Because in the next lesson, you’ll create a word picture that will become key to your Execution Plan.
